The topic of EXERCISE
Now that we have the eating problem established and we can decide for ourselves if a food is healthy/unhealthy, lets tackle the topic of exercise!
I know this is where some people battle most. There are all sorts of excuses people make up to get out of this, and I know because I used to use any excuse I could think of to get out of my physical education class in high school.
Examples:
I can pretty much guarantee that adding in at least 3 sessions of exercise a week will improve your lifestyle, your self image and your attitude. It's not about overdoing yourself but rather proving that your body is capable of these amazing things that you never thought were possible.
Now I challenge you to find out about exercise options around you in your community and go for it!! Do it next week - pitch up - do it - enjoy it!!

- I just don't have time - my life is too busy.
- But I have kids and you don't - I just don't get a break.
- I don't have money for a gym contract - so I cant.
- I'm too tired - my body just can't handle it.
If this sounds like you then I want you to take 5 minutes to go and look at yourself in the mirror...
Evaluate yourself (on a scale of 1 - 10):
- Do you look happy?
- Are you happy with your body?
- Do you feel comfortable in your clothes?
If you answered 10 to all 3 questions then great! You clearly don't need to keep reading - why are you even here? If you answered less to any of these 3 and you want this scale to improve then you need to start doing something about it - and a bit of exercise is one way to start. Please don't take this as body shaming - you are evaluating you, for you!
Why exercise?
Exercise is one of the biggest keys to good health.
There are 4 basic categories of physical exercise - endurance, strength, balance and flexibility. Each type of activity is different and doing them all gives many benefits, reduces boredom and reduces risk of injury.
Question: What type of exercise should you be doing?
Well firstly, it needs to be something you actually enjoy but lets look at each category individually.
ENDURANCE -
This type of exercise elevates your heart rate and increases your breathing. Ultimately it improves your overall fitness and your daily abilities. Examples are dancing, running and brisk walking.
STRENGTH -
This type of exercise improves how strong your muscles are. Typically these include some kind of resistance training and improve daily abilities like carrying grocery packets and climbing flights of stairs. Examples are lifting weights, body weight exercises and resistance band exercises.
BALANCE -
This type of exercise helps prevent falling and mainly consists of lower body exercises. Examples are standing on one foot, hand stands and medicine/bosu ball exercises.
FLEXIBILITY -
This type of exercise stretches your muscles and helps keep the body limber. This improves the bodies freedom of movement. Examples are yoga and range of motion exercises.
